State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)

The Arizona State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is a year round Free health-benefits counseling service for Medicare beneficiaries, the disabled and their families or caregivers.  Our mission is to educate, advocate, counsel and empower people to make informed benefit decisions, so they may enroll in Medicare programs that best fits their needs. If you need information or have questions regarding:

  • Medicare
  • AHCCCS
  • Medigap
  • Medicare Fraud, Error and Abuse
  • Part D-Prescription Drug Plan

SHIP Staff and their Volunteer Staff are trained to provide individuals with assistance to the many confusing problems that Medicare beneficiaries face.  Some of the topics we cover include:

  • Information regarding Original Medicare (A and B), Medicare Advantage plans (HMOs/PPOs etc.), Medicare Part D (PDPs) Medicare Supplement plans (Medigap) and options under Medicare
  • Assistance with Medicare, Advantage and Supplemental plans claims
  • Assistance with Medicare appeals and resolving Billing problems
  • Basic information on applying for Social Security, SSI and Medicare and AHCCCS Benefits
  • Information and enrollment assistance on Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage
  • Information and enrollment assistance on Medicare Advantage plans Coverage
  • Community Presentations on various Medicare topics
