A Hand Up Housing Counseling provides support to help people be successful renters, setting them on a path to stabilize their housing and move towards achieving their goals. Whether increasing or maintaining employment, re-establishing credit, eliminating debt, or other personal achievements, A Hand Up is here to help.


Our housing counselors work one-on-one with you to:

  • Create realistic spending plans
  • Review lease agreements to make sure you understand your responsibilities and rights
  • Provide education on the Tenant Landlord act and Fair Housing laws
  • Discuss all the financial requirements of renting to make sure the home is affordable
  • Go over the importance of renters insurance
  • Explain the responsibility of leasing versus month-to-month at-will tenancy
