Care Giver
The enactment of the Older Americans Act Amendments of 2000 established an important new program, the National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP). This initiative allocates funding to Area Agencies on Aging to support family caregivers. Programs and services provided may include respite care, home adaptation, caregiver training, legal assistance, assistive devices, support groups for grandparents raising grandchildren, and information and referral.
Central Intake/Information and Assistance
As of July 1, 2007 the Area Agency on Aging began providing Central Intake pre-screening for in-home services such as home delivered meals and personal care in La Paz, Mohave and Yuma Counties.
The Central Intake staff also handle information and referral calls, linking seniors and adults with disabilites to community resourses. Please contact our 1- 800 782 - 1886 to request in-home services or for referral to other forms of assistance. A data bank of community resources is maintained to assist older adults, family members and the other individuals who are seeking assistance with housing, in-home services, nutrition, etc.
